The final of the Day 1 Tournament of the VtES EC 2009 just started 10 minutes ago. The finalists are:

Siesta during VTES EC 2009 Day 1 Tournament

Two rounds of VtES have been played during the Day 1 Championship Tournament of the VtES EC 2009, and now there's a break from 2 pm to 4 pm. The metagame today has somewhat shifted from the one yesterday. After Floppy's win of the LCQ yesterday with a Malkavian Weenie Wall deck, there are a lot more wall decks (especially Weenie/Midcap Auspex decks) today, but also those with Fortitude or Celerity. At the same time the number of vote decks decreased somewhat, and the number of bleed decks (stealth/bleed as well as power bleed) is larger than yesterday. Also the number of ally deck has increased with multiple "Shambling Hordes"/"War Ghoul"/"Nephandus" decks, though not as much as the Wall and Bleed decks.

Siesta during VTES EC 2009 Last Chance Qualifier

Two rounds of VtES have been played during the Last Chance Qualifier of the VtES EC 2009, and now there's break from 2pm to 4pm. From what I hear that's called Siesta in Spain.

The metagame I saw in the previous two rounds was leaned heavily politics. My first table seating was: Jakub (POL) (Gangrel G1/2 Loki's Gift Vote) --> Jesus (ESP) (Tzimisce G2/3 Warghoul) --> Ralf (GER) (Ventrue G4/5 Lawfirm) --> Jordi (ESP) (Brujah G1/2 Con Boon) --> Denis (FRA) (Nosferatu G2/3 Con Boon). My second table seating was: Kimmo (FIN) (Ventrue antitribu G3/4 Wall) --> Claudio (ESP) (Rafael/Lutz MindRape Politics) --> Christophe (FRA) (Obf/Pre Prince Vote/Bleed) --> Jerome (FRA) (MidCap Obf/Pre Bleed) --> Ralf (GER) (Ventrue G4/5 Lawfirm). Even if you didn't count my deck there are 5 out of 8 decks which featured politics.

Another observation was the abundance of "Wash", "Direct Intervention" and "Pentex Subversion" in large number of of decks. Best example for this was a player's first turn, where his attempt to play "Dreams of the Sphinx" was foiled twice in that round because of two "Washes" from his predator and prey. Another deck I saw had at least 5 "Wash" in his library, and the player was only halfway through his library.

"Friday 13th" Storyline Bounty

Next week at the 2009 European Championship, there will be a special storyline tournament on Friday, November 13th, running opposite the Last Chance Qualifier. Details for the event can be found at: Friday 13th Storyline website

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the EC this year. But that’s not going to stop me from trying to support the Tremere (and Tremere Antitribu) in the storyline. I’m therefore offering a bounty if the storyline winner helps the Tremere.

The basic bounty can be claimed by any Clan. You don’t have to make a special deck for this. There’s an additional bounty, however, if the winner is a Tremere Antitribu deck (75% of your crypt is Tremere Antitribu). Since the final round has no special rules, the winning player just has to make his intentions clear to the storyline coordinator as to what he wants to do with Claudio Severino.

BOUNTY #1

Any winning deck (regardless of clan/faction or your key minion) can claim this
The winning player/clan uses the results of the storyline to save Clan Tremere (nothing treacherous)
The winning player/clan helps Claudio Severino (you can obtain knowledge and learn from him, but no killing / destroying / capturing / etc., he has to be kept alive and unharmed)

In exchange, I offer one of the following:

[A.] Almost any single card. I can fulfill 98% of requests, but I am limited by my collection (e.g. I don’t have any copies of Monastery of Shadows or New Carthage). But here’s a small sample of highly sought- after cards you could select if you want (choose one):

BOUNTY #2

This added bounty is only for a winning Tremere Antitribu deck (75% of your crypt is Tremere Antitribu)
The winning player uses the results of the storyline to save Clan Tremere (same as above)
The winning player not only helps Claudio Severino (kept alive and unharmed) but actually recruits him to join the Tremere Antitribu!

I’m obviously a big Tremere Antitribu fan. However, it’s not in our interests to see the Camarilla Tremere destroyed (they provide such lovely recruits to use in our decks!). If anything, it might be quite interesting if we get Claudio Severino to join us. If he shows up as a crypt card, it would be nice to have another Tremere Antitribu vampire (especially on the presumption that storyline rewards don’t "count" for the normal number of vampires a clan gets per grouping). Or if he shows up as an ally, it would be cool to have another mage ally for the clan (to partner up with Nephandus and who can be recruited by Antonio d’Erlette).

If you claim this bounty (which is instead of the prior one), I will offer three times as much. So you could choose three of the options listed above (subject to availability). I do not have 3 Enkil Cogs. But you could choose for example:

one Enkil Cog and one Preternatural Strength and one The Unmasking
or one Shroud of Absence AND a Baali Starter and a Ravnos clan t-shirt

In a week, the VtES EC 2009 organization team will release the rooms they blocked for EC attendees that haven't been booked yet, so they will be bookable by anyone from that date on, which means that any of you trying to book a room after that date may find it difficult.
